The Council is a non-profit organization of local business leaders, whose overall mission is to provide leadership that will create a healthy and diverse economy, a quality built area and a healthy natural environment. We believe strongly that a business friendly climate, within which private enterprise can flourish, is essential to a thriving sustainable community. We are proud of the roles the Economic Council and its members have taken in areas of business enhancement, education, and sound planning for the future.
We are currently focusing on the economic opportunities available to Martin County as a result of the location of Scripps Research Institute in northern Palm Beach County, which we see as a tremendous opportunity to diversify our local economy. We have also launched the new Junior Achievement Board of Martin County which will teach students important concepts of entrepreneurship. Most importantly, we continue dialogue with our County and City Commissioners, legislators, and School Board members to encourage the planning and job creation we need for a quality lifestyle.
Our activities include monthly breakfasts or luncheons with speakers and discussion of local issues, our annual dinner and annual golf tournament. Our Board of Directors, Government Affairs, Education and Bio-Science Committees meet monthly.
